There is a misconception about wood being long lasting. While it’s true, however it also requires such maintenance to take good care of it. It will last long if we will constantly maintain the floor.
Here are some guidelines to learn from:
1.) Sweep the floor or vacuum on a regular basis.
– Sweeping the floor will prevent small objects like small rocks or particles to be stepped on, thus leaving scratches and markings on the floor.
2.) Use Humidifier
– Wood floors is greatly affected due to weather conditions. Humidifier is very important on winter seasons.
3.) Do not slide the furniture
– This is by far the most destructive habit for the floor. Instead of sliding the furnitures, no matter how big or small, light or heavy, it is a must to carry the furniture. Just one slide could produce a scratch that will never be recovered unless you restore that piece of wood.
4.) Wipe the floor from liquid spills
For all wooden floors whether engineered or solid, liquid spills will always destroy the wood. So as soon as you see a spilled liquid, instantly wipe it out.
5.) Use the right cleaning agent.
Not all cleaning agents available in the market are beneficial to wood floors. There are specific brands that I would suggest like BONA Products. This is widely used all over the world and has been dedicated for more than 30 years in creating products to protect and clean wooden floors.
6.) Put soft gels, rubber or cork beneath the legs of the furniture.
Putting a heavy furniture in your floor will surely leave a lasting mark on the wood if it does not have protective cover.
